Why is this relevant? Late February, the first trilogue on the Political Advertising Regulation took place. This legislation turns the spotlight on the impact of online advertising on our democracy. How essential is online marketing for election campaigns? What are current developments? What level of transparency is needed to properly oversee online campaigns? And to what extent should we allow the targeting of ads?
Keynote Renowned US book author Bob Hoffman a.k.a. The Ad Contrarian, will hold a keynote speech on the impact of online advertising on both our democratic elections and he will touch on the topic of AdFraud. According to his newest book, 30% of all online advertisements are never seen by real human beings but are filling the pockets of criminals instead. What needs to be changed to solve this?
Panel debate This keynote will be followed by a panel debate with, among others, Tom Dobber (University of Amsterdam) and Johnny Ryan (Irish Council for Civil Liberties), in which we dive deeper into the topic of transparency & targeting of online advertising.
