1

Culture and Education (CULT 1)

The question of democratic sustainability amongst the EU member states.

What can the European Union do to support member states that are struggling to live up to the democratic criteria stated in Article 2 as well as in Article 49? Could areas such as educational and cultural exchange be used to better establish democratic ideals for future generations?

2

Women’s Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM)

The question of women in critical decision-making positions.

What can the EU do to further advance the efforts in closing these gaps and to support member states that especially struggle in doing this?

3

Development (DEVE)

The question of EU aid.

Which measures can the EU take to continue to improve aid effectiveness? How should the EU prioritize its allocation of aid funding to ensure global sustainable development? How can the EU integrate development aid objectives with other EU policies and projects?

4

Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI)

The question of marine littering.

How could the EU engage European stakeholders in reducing plastics and microplastics, sustainable use of industrial fishing equipment and in reducing other materials threatening the oceans?

5

International Trade (INTA)

The question of fair trade.

How should the EU deal with the distributional implications for EU citizens of global trade? How should the EU deal with social dumping in the union in terms of posted workers and trade relations with third countries? What remedies should the EU take to safeguard market competition and sustainable fair international trade?

6

Industry, Energy, and Research (ITRE)

The question of the EU’s energy dependency.

How should the EU secure its demand for energy in the union without being dependent on imports? How can the EU support the development of renewable energy sources in member states to obtain internal energy diversification?

7

Foreign Affairs (AFET/SEDE)

The question of climate change and global security.

What measures can the EU take to combat the effects of climate change in protecting individual member states most vulnerable to consequences of climate change and in making sure that the union is ready to help refugees within the European Union and refugees seeking to come to the EU from a third country?

8

Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL)

The question of corporate social responsibility.

What demands should the EU have on privately held companies acting on the single market to make sure that citizens' rights are upheld, both as consumers and as employees?

9

Transport and Tourism (TRAN)

The question of inland waterway transportation.

What would the EU have to do to achieve this plan and is this a viable strategy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions?

10

Culture and Education (CULT 2)

The question of 21st century skills, education and rural challenges.

How can the EU best support and create initiatives, such as but not limited to Open Education, to empower European rural youth and create sustainability for rural areas?
