Today Sophie in 't Veld, together with Guy Verhofstadt, Cecilia Wikström, and Marian Harkin, have sent a written letter to Frontex on the criminalisation of humanitarian assistance to migrants. This letter follows the news of several cases of individuals carrying out humanitarian assistance at EU's external borders who have been charged with the facilitation of irregular entry or transit, including the arrests and the detention of Sarah Mardini and Sean Binder on the Greek island Lesbos.
