Debate: "Beach Battles: Monokini or Burkini? #shedecides" - Hoofdinhoud

A lively debate took place in the European Parliament about the worldwide policing of women´s bodies and in particular their manner of dressing.

This debate was hosted by MEPs Sophie in 't Veld & Angelika Mlinar of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe.

They had invited high-level panelists Masih Alinejad, Iranian journalist and founder of the online movement My Stealthy Freedom (http://mystealthyfreedom.net/en/), Iranian-Belgian women's rights activist Darya Safai and university lecturer in Sociology and Anthropology of Religion, Kim Knibbe (University of Groningen). A video message of Siam, the French mother who was fined for wearing a headscarf on a beach in Cannes in August, was also shown in the debate.
