Ryszard Petru meets European Liberals in Brussels

During his visit to Brussels, Polish liberal leader Ryszard Petru (Nowoczesna) met with ALDE Party President Hans van Baalen and ALDE Group leader Guy Verhofstadt discussing closer cooperation between both sides during his visit to Brussels.

In a press conference at the European Parliament, Petru announced that he wishes to join the European Liberal Movement.

Verhofstadt emphasized that European Liberals support Nowoczesna and Polish civil society in their efforts to fight the undemocratic measures recently taken by the new Polish government to gain influence over the judiciary in the country.

Nowoczesna entered the Polish Parliament with 7.6% in October 2015 and has recently been polling as high as 20%.
