Proposals targeting "science-reluctant people" to be encouraged - Hoofdinhoud
This is one of the messages passed on yesterday to the participants of the European Researchers' Night info day organised by REA i. Over 40 potential applicants from 23 different countries came to Brussels to get information about the new call for proposals that opened last month. The deadline to apply is 13 January 2016.
"The philosophy of the European Researchers' Night should be reflected in the proposals", said the speakers from the Research Executive Agency (REA) and the European Commission (EC) to the audience. The activities should bring the general public and researchers closer to each other, while promoting research careers, in particular for young people.
Proposals should include entertainment actions combined with science-related activities for the public at large, with and without a scientific background.
Participants were also advised to envisage the combination of science activities with other disciplines such as theatre, literature, cooking or sport in order to attract "science-reluctant people".
During the session, the general features of the European Researchers' Night under Horizon 2020 (H2020) were presented, as well as the structure, award criteria and eligible costs of the newly opened call,, as were the general features of the European Researchers' Night under Horizon 2020 (H2020).

Countries like Finland and Moldova, which did not organise events last year, were represented showing interest in applying for funding.
