ALDE presents EU Democratic Governance Pact - Hoofdinhoud

The Democratic Governance Pact (DGP) should become for Democracy, the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights, what the Stability and Growth Pact is to the Eurozone. The DGP establishes a more gradual and automatic response in order to ensure better compliance with Article 2 of the Treaty of the European Union and the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Seminar

To present the pact ALDE organized a seminar which allowed key stakeholders, representatives from all EU institutions, experts in the field of fundamental rights, as well as civil society organisations to further discuss the DGP and explore possible avenues to implement this instrument aiming at strengthening Democracy, the Rule of Law and Fundamental Rights in the EU.

"To kick start the debate, ALDE composed its own EU scoreboard on democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights based on publicly available data, reports, and research. The method is not scientific, but we want to visualise the state of democracy, rule of law and fundamental rights. Like the European semester, we use colour coding: green for good, yellow for risk, red for problem."
