Turkish actions creating tensions in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus (debate)

Johannes Cornelis van Baalen, on behalf of the ALDE Group. - Madam President, the ALDE Group wants to make the problem not bigger, but smaller, and we can only do this by referring to international law. As previous speakers have said, the exclusive economic zone is a Republic of Cyprus economic zone and it means that Turkey has nothing to do there. It can only explore or exploit with the licence of the Republic of Cyprus, period.

I agree with those who said we want to have both communities of Cyprus not only find each other and come to an agreement but also benefit from the resources. This can be done, but this Parliament should respect international law and it means that Turkey cannot continue its activities in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus, period.
