I'm shown the new fibre in Schiltigheim, Alsace
Yesterday, while in Strasbourg, I was delighted to visit a fibre field, and to be present at the signature of a Convention for the deployment of fibre networks in Alsace.
Soon, more people in Alsace will have access to superfast broadband - and all that brings, whether it’s fast video-on-demand, flexible cloud services, smart energy grids or e-Health.
In short, this was a good day for the people of Alsace. I hope soon that not just they, but every European, can enjoy those superfast benefits. Our legal rules already allow innovative tools like public private partnerships and co-investment; add that to the investment we’ve proposed through the EU budget, the private investment that can flow from a predictable regulatory framework, and further measures to cut the cost of broadband, and I hope that dream will soon become a reality.
