Blog: First Citizens' Dialogue in 2015 - Hoofdinhoud
Today I am proud to be launching, together with First Vice-President Frans Timmermans and Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis, the new series of Citizens's Dialogues.
These events will give people across Europe a chance to talk directly with members of the European Commission. They are part of a clear commitment to better communication with citizens. In the Mission Letters sent to all Commissioners in September 2014, President Juncker called on the College to be "politically active in the Member States and in dialogues with citizens."
Citizens from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania have been invited to attend this first debate, which will take place today in Riga, at 3.45 PM EST at the Riga Latvian Society House. We expect a full house, as more than 400 people already reserved their seats. We will discuss important topics for Europe and the Baltic region, such as job creation, economic growth, the new EU Investment Plan, fiscal responsibility, structural reforms and social dialogue.

For myself, today's Citizens' Dialogue is an opportunity to get to better know the fellow citizens of the Baltic states with whom I feel I have a lot of history to share. I look forward to finding out more about their thoughts, their feelings and their hopes about the EU. This conversation will help me do my job better, for the benefit of all EU citizens
