Visa Pour l’Image is een internationaal fotojournalistiek festival, gehouden in het Franse Perpignan. Op de site van de Digital Journalist kun je een ‘het beste‘ zien van wat daar getoond wordt. Mocht je er heen willen, het start op 1 september.

It’s difficult to work in Iraq. It’s difficult to work in Somalia. In Iran. In Afghanistan. In Chechnya … It’s not only difficult for photojournalists to work it’s also difficult for them to get their work published. Magazines want celebrities, celebrities and even more celebrities. Once again Perpignan is going to take the opposite stance. Yes, there are still real photojournalists and yes, there are still some real news features. We are going to show them and even if people think we are the last of a dying breed we will continue to show the excellent work of these photographers.

For 19 years people have told me time and time again that photojournalism is ailing, dying even, but I am convinced that it is the press that is sick. Once again, we are going to show just that.
