confirming the participation of Ireland in Regulation (EU) 2022/585 of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Regulations (EU) No 514/2014 laying down general provisions on the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and on the instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management, (EU) No 516/2014 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and (EU) 2021/1147 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund
THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
Having regard to Protocol No 21 on the position of the United Kingdom and Ireland in respect of the area of freedom, security and justice, annexed to the Treaty on European Union and to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 4 thereof,
Having regard to the notification by Ireland of its wish to accept and be bound by Regulation (EU) 2022/585 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 April 2022 amending Regulations (EU) No 514/2014 laying down general provisions on the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and on the instrument for financial support for police cooperation, preventing and combating crime, and crisis management, (EU) No 516/2014 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund and (EU) 2021/1147 establishing the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (1),
Whereas:

By letter of 14 July 2022, Ireland formally notified its wish, in accordance with Article 4 of Protocol No 21, to accept and be bound by Regulation (EU) 2022/585. |
(2) |
There are no conditions attached to the participation of Ireland in Regulation (EU) 2022/585. |

In order to ensure the earliest possible application of Regulation (EU) 2022/585 and ensure Ireland can make full use of the flexibility provided in it, it is appropriate to provide that Ireland’s opt-in is effective as of the date of the formal notification of its wish to accept and be bound by Regulation (EU) 2022/585. |
(4) |
In accordance with the procedure provided for in Article 331(1) of the Treaty, the Commission should therefore confirm the participation of Ireland in Regulation (EU) 2022/585, |
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1

1.The participation of Ireland in Regulation (EU) 2022/585 is confirmed.

2.Regulation (EU) 2022/585 shall apply to Ireland from 14 July 2022.
Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on the day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
