Parliamentarians from African, Caribbean and Pacific States and the European Parliament will discuss topics such as the situation in Mali, Nigeria, Sudan and South Sudan, Climate policy and foodprices, mining policy from 28 to 30 May in Horsens Denmark at the 23rd session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

The ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly is seen as a key meeting to discuss north-south relations.

Under discussion is also the venue of the next (24th) session. The ACP Parliamentarians are suggesting Surinam, but the EPP Group finds it not appropriate to meet over there due to the fact of the president's conviction in the Netherlands for drugs trafficking as well as the controversial amnesty law for his murder trial for the "December killings" .

Ria Oomen-Ruijten MEP said "The EPP Group will therefore ask to postpone the meeting in Surinam and call on the ACP side to come forward with an alternative venue for the 24th session of the JPA."
