Wilders and Gingrich in Manhattan on 9/11 to Oppose Ground Zero Mosque

The ninth anniversary of 9/11 will witness two eagles, Geert Wilders and Newt Gingrich appearing at a ground zero event in opposition to Mega mosque project, the Cordoba House initiative that received NYC Landmarks Commission approval this week.

That should catch the attention of the mainstream media, given Wilders rise to prominence in the new minority ruling coalition in the Netherlands. Then there is speculation about Gingrich making a possible 2012 run for the GOP Presidential nomination. It is not lost on many that Gingrich has come out in favor of national anti-Sharia legislation. That is certainly in synch with Wilders' new International Freedom Alliance.

Today's New York Times has a rare frank assessment of Wilders' deal for participating in the Dutch ruling coalition. Note this comment from a Dutch sociologist at Erasmus University:

Some analysts also contended that such an arrangement would be ideal for Mr. Wilders, a clearly recognizable figure with bleached-blond hair who lives under 24-hour protection after a succession of death threats.

“The risky scenario for Wilders is becoming part of the government and being responsible for policies,” said Dick Houtman, a political sociology professor at Erasmus University in Rotterdam. “On the other hand, if it becomes clear that he doesn’t want to be part of government, then he loses credibility and people will stop supporting his party.

“The fear is that you will give Wilders lots of influence over the government, but on the other hand, he will still be able to say what he wants,” Professor Houtman said. “It’s a dream outcome for Wilders.” Mr. Wilders’s more far-reaching anti-Islamic ideas are unlikely to be included in any agreement, the professor said, though he added that the last government’s immigration policy was already tough.

Here is the news release about the 9/11 event and joint apperances by Wilders and Gingrich:

Geert Wilders to New York on 9/11 Geert Wilders will be speaking in New York on September 11 at a protest demonstration against the building of a mega mosque near Ground Zero.

The demonstration, organized by SIOA (Stop Islamization Of America), takes place at 2pm at Park Place between Church and West Broadway, near Ground Zero. Other speakers include Newt Gingrich, 9/11 Parents and Families of Firefighters & WTC Victims.

By accepting this invitation, Geert Wilders expresses his support for the people opposing the building of a mosque near the place where Islam committed the worse atrocity of the past decade. The attack on the WTC towers on 9/11, 2001, was an attack on the entire Western civilization.
