amending Regulations (EEC) No 1408/71 and (EEC) No 574/72 on the application of social security schemes to employed persons and their families moving
within the Community .

EXPLANATORY KEMORAKDOM
The ptirpose of this Proposal for a Council regulation is to formulate

the adaptations to the Aots of the Counoil concerning social security ' for migrant workers that are made heoessary hy the accession of Qreeoe in so far as they have not yet been specified in Annex I to the Act concerning the conditions of aooession.

Sinoe the said Act was signed, two Council Regulations^, have been adopted* ,
Moreover, paragraphs 2 and 3 of Chapter V of Annex II to the said Aot provide that Annex II to Regulation No 1408/p must be amended in so far as the oonolusion of an Agreement between the Member States on the maintenance of certain provisions of bilateral Agreements so require*

The competent authorities of Germany and Greeee have agreed to maintain in force oertain provisions of the Convention on unemployment insurance of 3 May I96I and a Protoool concluded on 13 June I98O to implement these provisions*
These provisions are more favourable than the corresponding ones of Regulation No 1408/p • : . . .
Pursuant to Annex II, Chapter Y, paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Aot of Aooession, Annex II to Regulation No 1408/p must therefore be amended*
Article 2
Article 4(3) of Regulation No 1517/79 has added a new Article 12a to Regulation No 574/72.
The competent authorities of each Member State must designate an institution for the implementation of the provisions of this Article.
In accordance with Artiole 4(10) of Regulation No 574/72, these institutions must be listed in Annex 10 to the said Regulation.
Artiole 3
Pursuant to Artiole 146 of the Aot of Aooession, the Regulation must enter into foroe as from aooession. •*

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,
Having ,regard to the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community;
Having regard to the Act of Accession of Greece, and in particular Articl 146(2) thereof;
Having regard to the proposal from the Commission;
Whereas the Council adopted on 14 June 1971 Regulation (EEC) No 1408/81 on the application of social security schemes to employed persons and

Regulation (EEC) No 574/72 laying down the procedur^ for implementing
Regulation (EEC) No 1408/71, both Regulations being last amended by .

Whereas, pursuant to Article 22 of the said Act, certain adaptations made necessary by accession and in conformity with the guidelines set out in Annex II to the sa.id Act must be made to Regulations (EEC) No 1408/71 and (EEC) No 574/72, .
HAS ADOPTED THE FOLLOWING REGULATION:

In Section A of Annex II to Regulation (EEC) No 1408/71, the entry
"19. Germany-Greece" is hereby replaced by the following:
"19. Germany—Greeoe
(a) Article 8(1), (2)(b) and (3), Articles 9 to 11,and Chapters I and IV in so far as they concern the abovementloned Articles, of the Convention on employment insurance of 31 May I96I.
(b) The Protoool of 13 June 1980.”

In Annex 10 to Regulation (EEC) No 574/72, the entry ”E. Greece” is hereby amended as follows.: _

Artiole 3
This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 January I98I.
This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
